The central aspect of the concept of the Steinbeis Center of Management and Technology (SCMT) in the Steinbeis University Berlin is a lifelong and extra occupational learning. Focused at the demands of the professional practise the SCMT has also set up as an independent service provider in the German university scenery. With more than 5,000 students the Steinbeis University Berlin is the biggest private and officially recognised college of Germany and one of few private colleges which disposes of the right to award doctorates.

In the study the technical knowledge is given in the theory. Supported by the professors and lecturers from science, practice and consultation the innovative drafts for the enterprise future are developed and "transferred" in the project work. The project,  which the participants worked on, is documented in the Bachelor or Master thesis.

Foreigner who would like to take part in a study programme or training programme of the Steinbeis University Berlin, have to dispose of good German and English language skills. Special specialised abilities in German and English are beside the established specialist knowledge indispensable conditions for the ability to follow a lecture in a technical-scientific or economic course of studies and to take part in project work with enterprises and in the work-related communication.

In cooperation with the Steinbeis Centre of Management and Technology the Eduard-von-Hallberger-Institut carries out special language pre-study courses for foreign university applicants. In these courses the participants acquire the necessary language abilities and have the possibility to take the TestDaF or TestAS exam and thus to prove their language and subject-specific qualifications for the later study. In addition, the language usage is practised in subject-specific and technical lessons in mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, informatics or in business and political economics which is urgently necessary for the study and the work in an enterprise. The usage is made clear with the help of many clear exercises. In accompanying practical training approches the participants learn to solve practical tasks and also to write technical documentations in German.
