Language Pre-Studies for the Possible Access to a Bachelor Degree Course at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) Stuttgart

The Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) Stuttgart (www.dhbw.de) is with nearly 7,000 students one of the biggest university facilities in the regions Stuttgart and the upper Neckar. In cooperation with about 2,500 well-chosen enterprises and social facilities the university offers 20 bachelor degree courses accredited nationally and internationally in the faculties of economy, technology and social services. Within the scope of the binary study concept the DHBW Stuttgart provides the scientific and theoretical knowledge as well as important key qualifications, while the binary partners guarantee the work experiences.
The binary study offers a unique connection of theory and practise. The students toogle in a 3 month rhythm between the scientific studies at the college and the practise experience in the enterprise. Thus they acquire beside technical and methodical knowledge the action and social competence which is necessary in the everyday professional life. Contents of theory and practise are well-matches and incorporate current developments in economy, technology and society in the curricula.
The Eduard-von-Hallberger-Institute in Freudenstadt carries out special language pre-study courses for foreign university applicants for the preparation of studies at the DHBW in Stuttgart. In these courses the participants acquire the necessary language abilities and have the possibility to take the Certificate German (ZD), the TestDaF or the TestAS examination to prove thereby the language and subject-specific qualification for the later studies. In addition, the usage of technical and subject-specific language is practised in mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, informatics or in business administration and national economy which is absolutely necessary for studies and the work in an enterprise. The uses are conveyed by many clear exercises. In accompanying internship experiments the participants learn to solve practical problems as well as to write technical documentations in German.
