Our Institute
The Eduard-von-Hallberger-Institute is an educational institution at which language teaching, courses in adult education and academic exchange programs are offered.
In our language centre we prepare foreign applicants by providing German language and subject-specific skills for subsequent studies in Germany, Austria or for furthering their education or career. We also conduct language courses and language examinations for naturalisation.
In contrast to ordinary language institutions, we focus on preparing participants to use their newly acquired skills in the real world. This means that beyond gaining general skills (German as a foreign language on the levels A1 to C1), participants are engaged in learning subject-specific and technical skills which are essential for later studies or a career in Germany. Depending on the field this includes maths, physics with practical courses, chemistry, basics in informatics, business economy, economics and English.
For foreign applicants who want to study music in Germany we offer special preparation courses for the entrance exams at German music colleges. These preparation courses include beyond an intensive language education music theory, aural training and individual lessons at music major and minor subjects. The lessons are conducted by experienced university lecturers, who exactly know the requirements and who are sometimes even part of committees for entrace examinations.
Foreign applicants who want to study the art in Germany we also offer specially themed preparation courses, in which the participants learn the language, enhance their artistic skills and prepare their application portfolios for art colleges.
Besides lessons in small groups (max. 16 participants, often less than 10) we also offer individual tutorial and support lessons.
The Eduard-von-Hallberger-Institute is a licensed "TestDaF" and "telc" examination centre and can therefore conduct internationally recognised German language examinations from A1 to C1, "TestDaF"- exams or "TestAS"- exams. All teachers at our institution are highly qualified academics with many years of teaching experience as well as subject specific expertise. They are friendly, helpful, patient, responsible, motivated and professional.
Moreover the EHI is an accredited member of EAQUALS (Excellence in Language Education) and establishes all required quality standards for education, service, quality assurance and quality management.
Every year during the international Summer and Winter Camp Program many foreign pupils come to our institution in Freudenstadt and become acquainted with Germany, its language its people.
For adults we offer tailored professional development opportunities, e.g. a methodological-didactical training for foreign teacher groups, quality assurance and management in the German language education or examiner trainings for teachers of the German language.
Our institute maintains contact and cooperates with various institutions within Germany and abroad and is therefore able to respond to special interest and wishes of participants.

Our Campus
Our campus is located in Freudenstadt next to the golf course.
The classrooms in our institute are equipped with modern presentation media such as video projectors, computer projection devices or large-screen TV sets for an audio-visual teaching. Moreover a multimedia langauge laboratory with the possibility to practise and improve the phonetic skills, the listening comprehension, group discussions and the conduct of sample tests is available for the participants. These are good premisses to accomplish a wanted goal in as short a timeframe as possible.
Besides the friendly arranged and modern classrooms there are music practice room, an atelier, dormotories and a canteen.
In our dormitories we offer place for about 70 students. All rooms have an own bathroom with a toilet, a phone and a TV connection. WLAN makes it possible for the students to surf on the internet for free. The rooms of the inhabitants are regularly cleaned and the laundry washed by the institution staff.
In our canteen one can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner with international cuisine 7 days a week.
The community lounges invite to communicate or to watch TV together and outdoors there are various sports facilities. Bikes are available for cycling and with the school's bus one can go for trips in the vicinity.
